Modello
Modello
Both in continuing the prevalence of its history into the future and adapting the home to suit a modern occupation, Modello focuses on longevity and permeance.
The renovation and expansion effort combine a stateliness together with a nod to the traditional, both in form and in the finishes used throughout. The lighter and more familiar timber features are combined with the introduction of heavier masonry elements to anchor the home in place, as well as being a gesture of passivity and living lightly with the environment.
A crafted approach sees patterning such as the herringbone timber flooring combine the existing and new areas, providing a textured foundation that binds both eras. A mostly monochromatic palette then provides a timeless backdrop of natural stone, plaster, timber, steel, and glass to facilitate and elevate the rituals of daily life, while ensuring an outward looking approach. While sitting as a compliment to the existing Queenslander home, the new adds its own signature and proposes a new identity of the expanded home in the process.
