Cheval
Cheval
Inspired by nature and a connection to the landscape, Cheval integrates a sustainable approach within a crisp and elegant linear formality.
Openly engaged with the surrounding site, the formal elements of the home allow unobstructed views and movement access across the site, encouraging natural ventilation and sunlight to activate the interior spaces while also tempering the resulting comfort levels at the same time. Utilising environmentally friendly materials and an active approach, the architecture responds to the surrounds to create a near zero energy building as a result. Integrating mechanisms that capture and store energy on site, water is also captured, stored, and reused to lessen the overall energy footprint. The openness and size of the property is used to the advantage of the energy bottom-line, taking less by giving more.
Named after the French word for ‘horse’, Cheval celebrates the historical connections to the area and Eagle Farm and Doomben Racecourses. Its openness and generous grounds that include an inground swimming pool and tennis court position the home as an Estate of its own.
