Allure
Allure
Allure combines an element of discovery in the way in which the form sits within undulating terrain. As a solid and weighted mass, the aim was to both contrast the natural surroundings and anchor the home in place – as a sculpture that stirs curiosity from afar.
The deliberate planning in the shape of an ‘s’ imbeds an organic and flowing sensibility, despite the solid nature of the form. The way in which the outer shell weaves itself amongst the dips and falls of the site is captured in a play of contrasting moments – both light and dark, and open and closed – throughout the site. In bringing a raw and natural palette together, the passing light creates further layers of shadow, highlighting texture, yet it is through various subtleties and considered details that elevate the experience of the home.
An undercurrent of environmental consciousness was also key, with the integration of systems that both engage and aim to preserve the place that the home is enviable enough to occupy. Ensuring minimal impact to the site and existing ecosystems drove many design directives and helped navigate the placement of the built elements amongst the natural. Allure is both a bold yet restrained statement – formally expressive of and within the site, yet sensitive in how it sits.
